Although for one night only, we enjoyed our stay at the Excelsior Hotel. The location is about a ten minute walk to the beach and town centre and just a few minutes to the train station. The room was clean and comfortable with a good size bathroom and breakfast was beaut. I would stay there again.

There are many restaurants, cafes and shops within easy walking distance as is the old town.

Very convient for travel on bus and train. 10 min walking distance to beach, old town and the resturants. The hotel itself feels safe and has a relaxing garden to enjoy breakfast or a glass of wine.

Some streets around the railway station are a less atractive part of Nice.

Front rooms can be noisy from outside traffic, but otherwise no complaints. Only 100m from train station & Airport bus drop off. Short walk ~ 5 mins from beach.

Hotel Location excellent for travelling to Monte Carlo, Ville Franch, Cannes etc as only 2 mins from Railway Station. No 99 bus from Airport to railway station -when you step off - look to the right and you can see the hotel. No bar in hotel if thirsty at night - supermarkets nearby for water, soft drinks etc.

Top Tip

Best part of Nice is the Old Town - walkable or take the tram. Can be very expensive if you are eating out every night.

We had an enjoyable stay at the Excelsior Hotel, staff very friendly. My husband could speak French, but it wasn't needed as the staff could speak good english. Bus 99 from the airport took you outside the train station in nice. The train station was just up the street from our hotel, very convenient. Trains and buses came on time and left on time, very efficient. We took a train to Monaco, took 20 mins, what a pristene and rich place, beautiful. We also took train to Cannes, absolutely fantastic. Nice, Monaco and Cannes were beautiful places and we will return again next year. Promendade is 10 mins walk from the Hotel. 20 min walk to the Old Town, Nice, a must see.

Bus 99 from the aiport takes you outside the train station in centre of Nice. Go to monaco and Cannes, definately must sees. Fruit shop turn right outside hotel to bottom of straight and turn left.

Vietnamese restaurant just off main drag is excellent. Don't miss Matisse and Chagall museums. Climb up to the top of the chateau for excellent views of promenade and old town
